I meant insofar as you have a lot more "eyes" (e.g. at AT&T, Deutche 
Telekom) focused on code common to some extent across all platforms, and 
that would tend to mean better security, especially as there's been 
commentary that there's not enough eyes on existing code/kernels etc.

As for mixing "Desktop and phones", yes, that's called "convergence".
