Re: Need a venue for Wednesday's Ubuntu Hour

OK, it's official then! Almadina Egyptian Cuisine at 150 University Ave. W., 8:00pm tomorrow (Wednesday, 15 August 2012) http://www.almadinacuisine.com/

WiFi we can fake with cell phone tethering, and they've got to have at least one power outlet for the cash register. See if we can unobtrusively make use of that. We'll figure it out when we get there.

Updated LoCo event is now at http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/ubuntu-ca/1860/detail/

For those who want to join in the IRC chat meeting, that starts at 7:00pm. http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/ubuntu-ca/1846/detail/

Hi Kiran,

It's a fantastic idea to join!

Ubuntu Hour is a monthly meet-up, mostly just for hanging out and
socializing. If you've got a technical problem you want advice on,
feel free to bring it along, but mostly we're just getting the local
community to talk about whatever.

There are two Ubuntu Hours in KW: Kitchener is the first Friday of the
month and Waterloo is the third Wednesday (ie., tomorrow).

The locations for both are a bit up in the air at the moment.
Kitchener has been at Misty Mountain on Queen St. downtown. It may be
there again in September, but I know there was talk of moving it.

Waterloo is moving, as Bob said. I suspect we'll sort out the venue
by the end of day.

Hello,

I am Kiran Kumar Kamsetti, located in Waterloo. Recently I found this group
and would like to join you all on this Wednesday meet. I have been Ubuntu
user from past 7+ years, but do not have much technical expertise. I am not
sure what you do in these regular meets, do you think it is a good idea for
me to join?

Regards,
Kiran

There are a few options. Like Williams. Or McGuinness.

But I'm going to suggest Al Madina's, at Phillip and University. I
know they have wifi. I'll check at lunch if they have power. They're
mostly a take-out Egyptian place, but you can get baklavas or other
deserts or snacks.

Mostly I'm suggesting them because there's an off chance Ellen might
be able to join us. With her allergies and things, pretty much all
the other options don't work.

Hi Waterloo Ubuntoids! Because I had a bad experience (again) at the
Duke
of Wellington pub at the last Ubuntu Hour Waterloo meeting, I want to
hold
the next one (this coming Wednesday, 15 August)[1] at a different
location.

Darcy and I briefly talked about a location in University Plaza, but
either
I forgot what we came up with, or we never did come up with anything.

So, any ideas for an Ubuntu Hour Waterloo venue? We're also holding the
Ubuntu-ca IRC meeting[2] on Wednesday at 7:00pm, so we need a spot from
7:00pm to 9:00pm, assuming Ubuntu Hour is only an hour long. It would be
good to find a place before Wednesday. And as I write this, it's
technically already Monday...
