a surprise since this is the first time I've even raised this particular
aspect of the request to restore the [undo] option and have previously
stated I would do the other changes, despite my difference in opinion.

numerous complexities here and some things only become evident once you
start to implement/solve these issues. Rather than just blindly going ahead
and doing what I think is the right solution, I thought it was better to
bounce ideas off you and others, increasing the likelihood the work done
will be acceptable.

So, what was your opinion wrt my suggestion? Rather than using up menu-bar
space with just an [undo] button/menu, would it be better to just restore
the standard emacs 'Edit' menu, which has a familiar format, includes the
standard emacs undo and would also add copy/cut/paste, search, etc?
