I should add : the periodicity works perfectly for 99,99% of the problems we have in solid mechanics, including all types of shear, and including what I need in the short/medium term (modeling the inside of shear bands or rock faults is an exception perhaps?). Deformations are usually finite, and I never pushed a triaxial test after 50%. Infinite motion is more a fluid mechanics thing probably, not a reason to ignore it, and it's fun. :)Don't worry Vaclav, I know it works (and worked), I played with it a lot.Or, let's say, it worked for what you wanted, but not for what I want.
Oh, wait... a micro-modelling of a debris flow comes to mind! Bruno
