the problem with what you suggest, is that the charts wont be
able to be changed dynamically by the user
embedding a static image, doesnt provide any ability to
update/correct/alter the content of the chart, from within the
wiki, which is what wikis are for
Well, it would be really easy to write a plugin that opens the
image with application that has created it. Very similar to what
we do with the equation editor. Equations are also images, but
when you edit them, the related latex file is opened.
P.S. if you use an editor that saves SVG images, e.g. Inkscape (which
is not optimized for flowcharts, but can do them as well), you can
simply insert the images and use the "Open With" menu item to open
again with the editor of choice.
Quick search on freecode.com <http://freecode.com> doesn't show up
much tools for this. Maybe there is a niche for a simple SVG editor
that is optimized for flowcharts and similar diagrams ?
