Right. This was the (or one of the) motivation(s) behind the 5.1 release.
And applications which using libwxgtk3.0-gtk3-0v5 aren't usable under Wayland. It's all a mess.
Is there a workaround to this issue? Or do we just wait for Wayland/GTK3/wx to be fixed?
I haven't build a recent devel version of KiCad against this GTK3+ basedlibrary of wxwidget3.0 so I can't say if the current HEAD would be better usable if linkend against libwxgtk3.0-gtk3-0v5.
This is what I am running now (Debian Stretch) to shake out gtk3 bugs. But I'll need to upgrade to Buster to test scripting. --Whoever decided on this packaging strategy was perhaps too cavalier-- The GTK3 build is stable and, apart from a few UI quirks and legacy pcbnew/modedit, fully operational
It would be good to get 5.1 nightlies for Ubuntu 18.04/Buster optionally built against gtk3 so that we could get a few more reports as I'm sure I don't touch everything.
Best- Seth
