Hi,
I'm using debian sid and I have the same problems as you, ie:
- i915.modeset=0
- suspend problem
- no sound and no mic
- trackpad issue
- cannot change brightness

I did not test but I gathered some useful informations :
To make sound and mic working you have to build or install at least
alsa 1.0.24 and maybe for the mic you have to apply a patch.
To make the clickpad working you have to apply some patches to
xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
