My solution to that is to buy a hard drive (small by todays standards)
and pop that in.  I give them the old one: "Keep it carefully; it will
only take me five minutes to put it back and you'll be back to exactly
where you are now".  After a respectable wait, I can put the old hard
drive back as extra storage, and re-format it!

The other thing is that it makes moving their documents easy - I
temporarily hook the old drive in, and simply copy the stuff they need.

I know they are not going to want Windows again: they don't, so I don't
blame them for their caution.

Yes, the stuff about Microsoft is pretty damning.  Anyone who does that
deserves to lose the market.  Makes me all the more fervent about what
we are doing.
