Well, the workaround isn't equivalent to the bug fix.  I haven't
explored the issue thoroughly, so I'm not sure what the implications
are. It's more likely to be an issue for translated editions, I think.

Having said that, I prefer not to have to maintain workarounds and
track when they can be removed, etc. It certainly adds to the
complexity of the system.

Well, that means there's some slight overhead for us during those few
months between when upstream TL has released a fix and Ubuntu/Debian
hasn't, because we have to maintain the workarounds.

I would prefer to use the Ubuntu packages, too. It just seems that we
always run into snags with them for one reason or another. :-(
