Please file a bug against VLC. Out of curiosity, what do plain 
Shift-Left and Shift-Right, or Ctrl-Left / Ctrl-Right do in VLC? Seems 
like left/right would be fwd/back, and ctrl/shift would make it go 
faster/further.
