Please remember that it's not out there yet, so things may change very
much before we see it in the wild.

That's what Quicklists provides in Unity.

HUD is quite nice, but it's also an entirely different way of accessing
the menus. It is the same technology that currently enables global menus
and the HUD, and that will enable the Locally Integrated Menus. It is
also used in Kubuntu to provide something similar to HUD.

HUD is actually a fantastic tool. It takes a little for it to become a
natural way of doing things, but once you do, it's just extremely
comfortable and fast.
