A small point not included in my previous post, it is resolved by removing Dell DataSafe , refer https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/482757
But then again, I wonder why are we talking about this? Is it affecting you? Are you bringing up all these issues to justify why grub is unusable to the majority of users? That you want to to remove it? Use burg? LILO, anyone?
