There is a bug report for that somewhere, against the intel driver...

I haven't seen this myself though (who knows why not).

I actually see this in dmesg as well, but it doesn't seem to cause any
ill effect here (and the Intel driver feels very quick to me...).

Doh!
You must be right. I never even thought of that but it's completely
consistent with my own experience.
I don't even like grub2 very much! I wonder what it's up to.
