OK,
I can say that the KMS module is causing this behaviour.
Actually, if I disable it, the laptop boots without any problem either with the
i915 built-in or as a module when KMS is enabled by default.

My question now is: what could be the conflicting kernel module? I mean: there
should be some kernel module which conflicts with KMS.

This is the kernel configuration I am using now. For sure there would
be many modules
that could be omitted in the configuration, but it could be helpful to
understand
where the problem could be: http://pastebin.com/WbWXtbFT

I will continue to make attempts, hoping my Z won't brick doing so many
forced shutdown and reboots. :(
