Re: Coordination - final phase

Ali,

if you expect work to be done, then it has to be in a way where people can respond to each other proactively despite the differences in time zones.

The mailing list and IRC have been used until now and what's the state of the website again? Is there actually any solid foundation that can be built upon? How long has it been dragging itself?

I have no objections against hanging in IRC, or any efficient way for that matter, for me it's a suitable way also, as I'm logged almost constantly, but at the same time I'm used to more effective ways of communication than browsing through endlessly nested and cluttered email communications.

I am calling for means of active development mainly for those of us who are actually willing to work on the design. Non-designers don't have to be a direct part of it, not saying they don't have a say in it of course, but if we are to work efficiently, there has to be a better way,

or things can stay as they are and expect your site be done maybe in 2020.

Different time zones, real life, etc. That's why we use the mailing list ;)

    After a count of previous responses it has come down to these
    options, so _please vote_, so we can get to work:
    _*
    *_*The social media of choice:*

      * Facebook (Messenger, Groups)
      * Google+ (Hangouts, Drive, Calendar, Keep)

    I'm not going to list PROs, as we're all aware of those, but CONs,
    where there is a major difference when it comes to graphics, for
    instance Facebook has very crappy image compression resulting to
    image pixelation and distortion even if one makes a banner of the
    exact size and format. I have never experienced something like
    that on Google+.

    If either is selected:

      * a secret group will be created with admin rights for all to
        allow file uploads
      * direct reach via the chat system is a necessity
      * occasional audio conferences would be great

    *Important note:* please leave a link to your profile with your
    vote so we can add each other as contacts.

    *The cloud storage for real-time file editing and instant access*
    (so the changes are in the cloud instantly and on the other
    collaborator's machine):

      * Google Drive (limited to Windows and OSX with their clients,
        but best integration with Google services)
      * Copy (supports all platforms, also my preference)
      * Dropbox (supports all platforms)

I'm sorry, I'm not following. What are we trying to achieve here?!

Official and formal Ubuntu GNOME Team Internal Communications, as per the Contact Us Wiki Page and as per what we have been doing since day 1 and as other communities within Ubuntu do ... we need to use:

  * Mailing List
  * IRC

Social Media are NOT for serious official communications. I don't really want to list the features of these sites but please DO NOT think about using that for serious stuff.

I'll vote against using any social media for any serious communications.

I thought we are trying to build some kind of close relationships or a friendly way to communicate 'beside' the official channels (mailing list and IRC)?!

I see I'm not on the same page ...
